The business now known as Cadence, Inc. began in 1985 as Specialty Blades in an old creamery building located in downtown Staunton, Virginia. Founded by engineer Martin Lightsey, Specialty Blades addressed the needs of companies who required high performance, razor-sharp custom-made cutting blades.

Now with almost 40 years in business, over 100 engineers on staff, and numerous capabilities under our belt, we continue to create new manufacturing technologies and invest in highly technical solutions to make critical metal components, complex sub- assemblies, and finished devices as a single, turnkey manufacturing partner for medical, aerospace, and industrial OEMs worldwide.
