LEMO®, founded in Switzerland in 1946, took its name from the company founder, engineer Léon Mouttet. Originally a manufacturer of contacts in noble and rare metals, the company took a major step forward in 1957 with the introduction of the push-pull self-latching connector.

In 1984, LEMO purchased REDEL and began manufacturing plastic connectors for the medical market. Today one of LEMO’s largest markets in the USA is medical and continues to grow. Due to the high demand and increase in sales for cable assemblies, LEMO purchased Northwire, Inc., a wire and cable manufacturer, in the Summer of 2014, to complete the solution.
